In the Beginning:
Meaden Screw Machine Products was founded as a joint venture by John A. Meaden and his son John Jr. They began manufacturing in a four car garage on Kedzie Avenue in Chicago in 1939. Soon, the newly formed company became active in manufacturing for the US Government during WWII. This demand for production capacity soon forced the company to seek larger quarters. The Meaden family purchased land on the South Side, erecting a new manufacturing facility. This facility was expanded twice to keep pace with the ever growing needs of the company.
The Growing Years:
In the late 70’s, Meaden was on the move again. With expansion again necessary, a plot of land was purchased in Burr Ridge, Illinois and a new building was constructed. In 1979, the Meaden family moved into 40,000 square feet of modern manufacturing space, situated twenty minutes southwest of downtown Chicago. Easy access to the Interstate Highway System and proximity to two major airports were key factors in selecting this site. In the 1990’s, this building was enlarged and the company's name modified to reflect our broad range of capabilities.
Where we're going:
The Meaden family has always felt the importance of investing in the company. This has always been done with careful planning, direction and goals, all designed to carry the company aggressively into the future. Today, we are constantly replacing and adding new machinery and technology.
