CAPABILITIES

The following information highlights the many capabilities that are available to our customers at Meaden Precision Machined Products. We are a completely self-contained manufacturer of precision-machined products that are used in many industries throughout the world.  Our headquarters is conveniently located a short distance from both of Chicago’s airports. Our Chicago-land plant is a full-service manufacturing site that has over 50,000 square feet to comfortably meet your every need. We also have a sales office in Campbellsville, a thriving community in Central Kentucky.   While the following information presents you with our capabilities, we welcome your visit and would enjoy the opportunity to accompany you on a tour of our facility.

Davenport Department

This highly competitive department continues to set production records through a program of continuous improvement. The skill of our employees has enabled us to eclipse the parameters established by the machine manufacturer. We currently have a total of 36 machines with a bar capacity of up to 7/8”.

Multiple Spindle Automatics

For high volume work in larger sizes, the machinery in this department cannot be beat. An ongoing program of replacement and upgrading has seen this department grow to 17 machines with bar capacity up to 3 1/4".

CNC Turning Centers

This machine group extends our capabilities into areas that we were unable to service in the past. It is truly the Hi-Tech Arena at Meaden Precision. We have continued to upgrade the equipment in this area and offer our customers the latest technology currently available. Everything from short-run prototypes to intricate parts of exotic materials is within our capabilities. In addition to our Swiss machine family of a new 7 axis Citizen, twelve machines are available 24 hours each day.
 With a bar capacity of 2 3/8”on our lathes (to 12” chucking capabilities) along with a family of vertical machining centers.  

Finishing
Our auxiliary operations are generally “finishing” operations that are performed when products cannot be completed in the primary manufacturing departments. Below is a sampling of some of the processes available in this department. Although not indicated herein, many of these operations have been automated and are cost effective.

Grinding Department
When it comes to holding close tolerances, our grinding department gives Meaden the in-house capabilities to address all of our customers needs. Much of this equipment is automated to help control the final cost to you, our valued customers. Some of our capabilities are listed below:

• Centerless/Infeed/Thru feed grinding
• Cylindrical grinding
• Form grinding
• Internal (I.D.) grinding
• Internal (I.D.) honing
• Surface grinding

Quality Control
While our capabilities are mentioned alphabetically here, our Quality Department should have been at the top of the list. For over 60 years Meaden has prided ourselves on our reputation for quality. We are a member of the American Society of Quality Control and are ISO 9001-2000 registered.

EDM Department

While much of our tooling is produced here for our automatic screw machines, this is also a finishing area for special projects and contract work. We house conventional and wire equipment, along with specialty machinery designed to slot and finish a variety of items in a 1500 square foot stand-alone area. The majority of this equipment is computer controlled and runs unattended.

Engineering Department

This could easily be considered the heart of our company. Both John Meaden, (Chairman of the Board), and his son Tom, (president), are graduate engineers. Three additional engineers round out this department and work directly with many of our customers in the development of new projects or products. We have complete Cad/Cam capabilities and offer engineering assistance to our many customers.

In Summary

As you can see from our capability list, Meaden Precision Machined Products has a lot to offer as a vendor that is well qualified to serve your every need. There are three pages to list the multimillion dollar assortment of technology and equipment that fills the walls of our facility, but  have yet to mention our most important resource-our people! Meaden is surrounded each and everyday with a dedicated group of people from all avenues of life that come together to address and answer the needs of our customers. We have some of the most skilled craftsmen and women in the world. Together they combine many hundreds of years of experience in a craft that few have been able to master.
